  Men Who Cook

The League City Chamber of Commerce celebrated another successful Men Who Cook on Thursday, July 17th, held at South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center’s newly remodeled Crystal ballroom. Over 60 chefs prepared their favorite recipe for guests to sample.  Tasting delights included mustard sauce steelhammer  fish,  stuffed cucumbers,  rum balls, and peppermint ice cream just to name a few.  There were many forms of gumbo and pasta dishes which are always  crowd pleasers. 

Entertainment included DJ Mark DuVerney who had  the crowd dancing with “Shoot” and line dancing.  Ann Hacker of Black Rose Steel provided a lively act for the crowd as “Julian Childish”.  Introduced as a Iron Chef professional cook. Many in the crowd did not recognize her as she was “wheeled” into the ballroom.  She was even greeted with a “color guard” of chefs who held their cooking utensils high as she danced through the crowd to the song “Staying Alive”. The crowd also enjoyed a fantastic silent auction that contained over 50 unique items.

The only event of its kind on the Texas gulf coast that features a first class atmosphere for all guests to experience - the 7th Annual South Shore Dockside Food & Wine Festival.  Steve London of New York Life Insurance Company and his hard working volunteer committee have been meeting for months to make certain your experience at the festival is unforgettable!
This year’s Festival will feature:

 Four themed wine pavilions featuring wines from all over the globe
Ongoing live entertainment on two stages 
 Here's the Beer Pavilion
Distinctive cuisine from popular local eateries
High end artists and exhibitors
Automobile, boat and yacht displays 
Traditional grape stomp competition, which is always a crowd favorite

Volunteers are already signing up to get their favorite times and locations to volunteer at the Festival. In addition to receiving a free festival t-shirt, admittance to the Festival and a wine glass, volunteers will also receive a free admittance to the League City Rotary Wine and Dine Casino event the Friday night preceding the Food and Wine event.  All volunteers will be placed in a drawing for a chance to win 25 signed Festival posters.
